Frequently Asked Questions

  • Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure to create fuller and more defined brows specifically tailored to each client. I use a pen-like tool to create small individual strokes in your skin. After pigment is added, these strokes mimic natural hairs. Microblading is perfect for those who are looking to enhance their brow density or change their eyebrow shape.

Reconstructing the brows by drawing individual 3D hair strokers to enhance shape, symmetry and fullness.

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that allows full reconstruction of the eyebrows. It is possible to achieve the most natural finish or bolder looking effect. Eyebrow microblading is performed by manual deposit of pigment under epidermal layer of the skin by a hand held manual tool, therefore, small discomfort during the procedure will be present as minor breakage of the skin is taking place.

Unlike permanent makeup brow treatment, microblading technique involves drawing individual, crisp hair strokes that are more natural looking. Microblade is several times thinner than the needles used for tattoos. Compared to hair-stroke technique performed with PMU machine, microblading strokes heal a lot thinner and crisper and do not blur. (Individual results vary due to skin type etc)

Microblading and manual tattoos have originated in Asia, and became popular on a global level only several years ago.

  • You will provide me with a signed copy of the Microblading Consent & Health Forms.

The result of microblading is optimised by AVOIDING the following:

Retin A skincare products (30 days prior to and after microblading)

Botox (2 weeks prior to microblading)

Brow Tint (30 days prior to and after microblading)

Brow Electrolysis (2 weeks prior to and 30 days after microblading)

Brow Waxing or Tweezing (1 week prior to and 30 days after microblading)

Facial Peels (30 days prior and after microblading)

Tanning or Sunburn (2 weeks prior to and 30 days after microblading)

Blood thinners are a contraindicator to Microblading. Bleeding during the service makes it more difficult for me to navigate and also can water down the pigments being introduced. Some common blood thinners include: Aspirin and Ibuprofen

  • Wear your normal makeup to your appointment. I want to craft a brow that not only compliments your face but looks like “you.”

Wash your hair before you arrive.

Carefully wash your hair again at least two days after your treatment, to avoid the eyebrows from getting very wet.

  • Your first appointment will take between 2 and 3 hours. I will consult with you on design, shape and color prior to completing the treatment and will send you off with all you need to know to support the healing process.

  • Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure and the colour of the pigment will appear much darker in the next few days.

Week 1: Your brows may seem to fade as they heal and develop micro-scabs

Week 3-4: Blooming color as the skin is healed and the color surfaces and looks beautiful

Week 5-8: The final pigment and look of your eyebrows will be clear

Week 8: A touch-up session will be done so that I can adjust the shape and density to perfection

  • Although aftercare may vary by skin type, in general the following is advised:

Do not wash your eyebrows for the first 2 days after microblading

On day 3 after microblading, clean your eyebrows using sensitive ph neutral baby soap and a little water, lightly dabbing with your fingertips to reduce rubbing and to minimise exposure with water

Try not to get brows very wet for the first 2 weeks after microblading

Keep moisturized for the first week only using the aftercare product which I provide, morning and night, use a sterile swab to apply

The second week dry heal. Try not to pick or touch the area as it may lift the pigment. The affected skin will fall off naturally on its own.

No products or makeup should be put on the area for the first 2 weeks

  • Increased sweating (sports and working out included!)

Hot sauna, hot bath, jacuzzi, swimming, extended showers or baths

Sun tanning or salon tanning, anything exposing you to extended UV/UVA exposure

    Retin-A products

Facial Products especially those including glycolic acid, including make-up or face washes. Please use the products which I provide

Avoid touching the brow area as much as possible and resist picking or peeling them

    Facial treatments and peels

Sleeping on your brows and face

Exposure to dirt and dust, like bike riding or outdoor projects

  • Your eight week touch up is an opportunity for me to answer any questions you have, and is also an opportunity for me to refill any pigment area which might have been lifted by the scabs as part of the healing process.

I want to make sure you’re happy and your brows are perfect.

  • What makes microblading unique from brow tattooing is the levels and placement of the ink being shallower. This results in a more natural appearance. Because microblading strokes are fine, they will fade most often between one to three years (varying from client to client).

"Is it painful?" - Some clients report small levels of discomfort, but this is rare and depends on the individual. For each appointment, I build 45 minutes of anesthetic processing time to make sure you are protected from too much discomfort.

  • You are pregnant.. Come and see me after you have stopped breastfeeding.

You are undergoing chemotherapy or have within the past six months. Call me once six months have passed and your immunity is robust

You have dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo or permanent makeup. Microblading requires me to simulate individual hairs, so if the brows are too dark this wouldn't be possible. In some cases, a consultation may be performed to assess the situation

    Eczema, rashes near your eyebrows

You are under the age of 18
